Madrid, November 16, 2022.- This morning, the signing of the agreement to join the Zero Child Poverty National Alliance initiative took place at the Reina Sofía School of Music between Ernesto Gasco, High Commissioner against Child Poverty, and Paloma O’Shea, Founding President of the Reina Sofía School.
The ‘Zero Child Poverty National Alliance’ initiative aims to involve public administration, companies, foundations and the third sector in achieving a country that provides equal opportunities to all its citizens and breaks the cycle of child poverty.
The Reina Sofía School of Music, committed to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, is a leading institution in higher music education, working for cultural development and standing as a lever in the development and protection of music in our country. Among its mission and values, the School bases its principles of action on equal opportunities and the abolition of any type of discrimination, guaranteeing a meritocratic and fair treatment for all its students and employees.
To endorse this work philosophy, the School adheres to the initiative ‘Zero Child Poverty National Alliance’ and recognizes the essential principles that underpin the rights of the child based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child. From its scope of action, the School firmly believes in the power of music to transform people and advance societies and is committed to actively participating in programs that will affect the awareness and dissemination of this initiative against child poverty.
Likewise, in its daily effort to bring classical music closer to all audiences, the School programs numerous free and reduced-price concerts to ensure that civil society, and therefore, children and adolescents, have access to culture and the benefits it entails, promoting the social inclusion of children and adolescents at risk.
