The Reina Sofía School of Music is Maintaining its Academic Activity Digitally.

On March 10, in compliance with the measures dictated by the Government of the Community of Madrid, the Reina Sofía School of Music ceased all its in-person activity, both academic and artistic. Since that day, the institution’s teams undertook the task of establishing a system that would allow students to continue their training remotely.

Thanks to the collaboration and effort of everyone—professors, students, and staff—it has been possible in a short time to transfer the planned academic calendar to the digital realm, which is allowing almost all teaching activity to be maintained in an online format, both for group and individual classes, including instrument classes. To this end, the Teams tool is being used, which allows instant communication with any member of the team, tracking of conversations, scheduling of meetings, conducting video conferences, sharing files, and taking notes.

Both students and professors have a personalized calendar with the class schedule for their organization. Despite the complexity and logical limitations in some cases, the result is proving to be very positive, and the response from both professors and students is very satisfactory. Thanks to this initiative, the School’s teaching activity continues, and the entire School community remains in contact, awaiting the improvement of the situation and the resumption of in-person activities as soon as possible.

In addition, the School offers free audiovisual content to the public on its digital channels. The School Channel, integrated into its website, has more than 350 videos of concerts and master classes, and its YouTube channel hosts interviews with the great artists who visit the School, musical appreciation workshops, and other content that may be of interest to everyone.
