Madrid, 2 October 2020.- On Friday, 2 October, the fifth edition of the Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Innovation Programme begins, which is taught by the Reina Sofía School of Music in collaboration with Edmond de Rothschild Foundations, the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation and the Banco Sabadell Foundation.
In this volatile and fast-paced society, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, the cultural sector in general, and the music sector in particular, has seen its activity diminished, but not its value. Critical and creative thinking is here to stay in the profile of the professional musician, and it is there, in delving into the benefits of the innovative spirit, where this entrepreneurship programme finds its meaning.
This subject of the Master’s Degree in Musical Performance taught by the School is developed with a dual objective: to provide music students with the tools and skills to develop their artistic and creative career, and to raise awareness of the role they play as artists in the society around them.
For the second year, the programme kicks off with a special day in which, for three and a half hours, there are presentations and talks given by leading professionals in the sector, presented by the actress and specialist in musical education Ana Hernández Sanchiz. Following the measures developed by the School against Covid-19 to guarantee the highest level of safety, the day can be followed online in both Spanish and English.
Òscar Colomina, Dean of the School, welcomes attendees and reflects on the current state of classical music in the face of Covid-19. Afterwards, there is a speech by Rocío Garcialonso, founder of the agency Fortissimo Media, who addresses the importance of communication and social networks in the cultural world, and Till Janczukowicz, founder and CEO of Idagio, who shares, from Berlin, his vision of the new formats of online concerts and new monetisation models for artists through streaming platforms.
After a short break, it is the turn of Jennifer Stumm, violist, professor at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (MUK) and director of the Brazilian social project Ilumina, who from Vienna tells us about the transformative power of music in life, and Federico Hernández, associate director of the agency Harrison Parrott, who reflects on the sustainability of concert activity, as well as the relationship between music and sustainability.
Students and former students of the Reina Sofía School of Music also participate in the meeting, talking about the innovative projects and initiatives they developed in previous years: ‘Video Boccherini‘, a collaborative recording by several students of the School during the state of alarm due to Covid-19; ‘FolkMusicChallenge‘, a chain initiative on social networks to highlight the traditional music of the students’ countries of origin, which achieved more than 100,000 views on Instagram; the musical education programme with Latin American children ‘Palo Santo‘, in collaboration with the Balia Foundation; audiovisual pedagogical training by the students of the IF International Foundation Trumpet Chair in the project ‘Campanas de Esperanza‘, and other social projects where the power of music converges to transmit messages of environmental awareness, ‘Proyecto Dryad‘, and recycling, ‘Sound of Recycling‘.
Everything that happens around this conference is shared on social networks through the hashtag #laclásicainnova
