The Royal Academy of Music (United Kingdom) has announced the creation of the Sir Elton John Global Exchange Programme, which will begin to be developed from September 2022. This programme, which has the support of Sir Elton John, a former student of the Royal Academy, seeks to promote global mobility and international collaboration between talented young musicians. The project will allow students from twelve of the world’s leading conservatories to participate in educational exchanges with the Royal Academy, ranging from intensive one-week projects to a full year of studies.
The Reina Sofía School of Music, in its objective to support young talents in their artistic and personal development, will be part of the project together with other institutions of international prestige such as:
- Juilliard School of New York (United States)
- Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (France)
- Shanghai Conservatory of Music (China)
- Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki (Finland)
- University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Austria)
- Hanns Eisler Academy of Berlin (Germany)
- Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (China)
- Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Australia)
- University of Music and Performing Arts Munich (Germany)
- Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto (Canada)
- Faculty of Music and Graduate School of Music of the Tokyo University of the Arts (Japan)
According to Òscar Colomina, Dean of the School, “Through this programme, Sir Elton John makes a decisive contribution to promoting and sustaining connections between major international musical institutions. I am particularly proud that this initiative connects two key artistic communities in the global music scene, such as the Royal Academy of Music and the Reina Sofía School of Music”.
