He was born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1962. He completed his musical studies at the Escolan\u00eda de Montserrat, where he was a soloist. Of note from this period are his recordings for the Harmonia Mundi label: Claudio Monteverdi’s \u201cVespers for the Blessed Virgin\u201d and Orazio Benevoli’s \u201cMisa Salisburgensis\u201d, which was named Record of the Year in Germany. Later, he entered the Barcelona Conservatory, where he continued his Double Bass studies with Ferr\u00e1n Sala during a period in which he obtained the highest grades. He expanded his studies at the Vienna University of Music with Ludwig Streicher, and took courses with Franco Petracci, Rodney Slatford and Klaus Stoll. <\/p>\n
He is currently a Deputy Professor at the Reina Sof\u00eda School of Music, in the Editorial Unit Double Bass Department, and Professor of Orchestral Training and Development at the same school, with Professor Wies de Boeve.<\/p>\n
He was awarded a prize in the I Competition for Young Performers of the Ministry of Culture and, as part of the award, was able to undertake a tour of recitals throughout Spain, which was very successful with the public and received a great reception from specialized critics. He was also awarded a prize in the Nicanor Zabaleta International Competition of Great Virtuosos, in San Sebasti\u00e1n. <\/p>\n
He was a member of the Orchestra of the Gran Teatro del Liceo and, subsequently, obtained a position as double bass soloist with the National Orchestra of Spain, which he still holds. In his early years, he collaborated with the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE) as Principal Double Bass. With that orchestra he has toured as a soloist, participated in its presentation at the Teatro Real and, later, has been a professor in numerous work and training meetings. <\/p>\n
He has developed his chamber music facet in multiple groups such as the Bellas Artes Quartet, Orchestra of the Conservatory of Barcelona, \u200b\u200bClassical Orchestra of Madrid, Reina Sof\u00eda Chamber Orchestra, Cassad\u00f3 Quartet and C\u00e1mara XXI with pianists Katia and Mar\u00eda Lab\u00e8que. <\/p>\n
He has performed recitals at the Reina Sof\u00eda Art Center, organized by the Center for the Diffusion of Contemporary Music (CDMC), where he has premiered works by authors such as Francisco Luque and Javier L\u00f3pez de Guere\u00f1as; Juan March Foundation, where he inaugurated a cycle dedicated to the Double Bass; European String Teachers Conference; and Cadaqu\u00e9s International Festival. <\/p>\n
He has made numerous recordings as a soloist for RNE and RTVE. <\/p>\n
He has developed his teaching activity in parallel, teaching courses throughout Spain and South America. He recently gave master classes at the Guildhall School of Music in London, as well as at the Wroclaw Masters Course (Poland). Likewise, his work as a professor at the Conservatory of the Community of Madrid stands out, in numerous meetings of the youth orchestras of the Community of Madrid, National Orchestra of Spain, of Euskal Herria or of Catalonia, among others. <\/p>\n
