Discover the spirit that defines the Santander Music and Academy Encounter: an established event that brings together young talents and great masters every summer.
The Santander Music and Academy Encounter is an initiative of the Albéniz Foundation that combines high-level academic training with intense concert activity. It is held every July at the Jesús de Monasterio Conservatory in Santander and in various venues in Cantabria, with the support of the Government of Cantabria and the Santander City Council. The program includes individual classes, chamber music, orchestral rehearsals, concerts, and conferences, with the aim of offering a comprehensive training experience, promoting young musicians from all over the world, and promoting classical music in the cultural and social fabric of the region.
The main headquarters are located in the Jesús de Monasterio Conservatory in the city of Santander.
Chamber music and orchestral groups are the fundamental axes in the academic philosophy of the Encounter, highlighting the formative value of music as a collective work and promoting the meeting between professors and students.
At the Academy, guest professors and students work side by side, whether in individual master classes, chamber music classes, rehearsals, or in the preparation of specific or interdisciplinary projects.
The proffesors guide the chamber work of the groups, integrating themselves into them as one more, to then share the stage, which constitutes an essential part of the teaching at the Academy and at the Encounter.
The Encounter offers more than forty concerts in Santander —Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria, Palacio de La Magdalena, Paraninfo de Las Llamas, Iglesia de Santa Lucía— and in more than twenty locations in Cantabria.
The Community of Cantabria is located in northern Spain, in the central area of the Cantabrian coast. The exuberant scenic richness of its territory is evident in its more than 60 km of beaches – some of which are part of the UNESCO Global Geopark Costa Quebrada – in its peaks of the Picos de Europa, with altitudes above 2,600 meters, and in the numerous rivers that run through it from south to north and that divide green valleys, creating natural spaces of great ecological value that make it a unique region.
History and art embrace in Cantabria, thanks to medieval towns such as Santillana del Mar and cultural treasures such as the Altamira caves, a universal artistic expression of prehistoric man, which also has a replica open to the public in the Museum of the same town.
Santander, capital of Cantabria, is a modern and cosmopolitan city that sits on a bay of spectacular beauty, facing south. Numerous visitors travel there to enjoy its charming landscapes, explore its many green spaces or, during the summer, relax on one of its eleven urban beaches, undoubtedly an offer as exceptional as it is irresistible within the Spanish tourist environment. Leisure, fun, and culture coexist in perfect harmony in Santander.
