Course
2016-17

BARTÓK, Béla

44 Duos for Two Violins Sz 98 BB 104 (version for two violas)

33. Ara táskor (Harvest Song)

Antoine Tamestit, guest professor

Bella Chich, student

Armando Yagüe de la Vega, student

In Professor Tamestit’s opinion, in the Lento, not everything should be played so legato and homogeneous, and each viola should focus more on its independent part. One must forget about the bar lines and think only about the phrasing. Furthermore, in the parlando, everything should be freer.
Afterwards, Tamestit makes some corrections regarding bowing and asks for more understanding between the parts. In the tempo primo, the first note of each slur has to be a little longer so that the sound is sustained more. Finally, the professor points out that the note that is not vibrated has to be a little more intense.
