The Master’s Degree in Musical Performance will lead the student to obtain advanced training, which will allow them to develop the skills and abilities necessary for the autonomous development of a high-level artistic musical career.

Content

The objectives of this Master’s Degree are oriented towards the training of performers who wish to combine specialisation and technical improvement in their field of knowledge with critical reflection on the interpretive phenomenon.

These are studies instituted within the European Higher Education Area and the Bologna Plan that are comparable to a university Master’s degree, by virtue of the Resolution BOE of June 23, 2017.

The Master’s Degree offers a programme of in-depth study of the technical aspects of the instrument; in research in relation to interpretation; and in the different musical repertoires of the History of Music. On the other hand, the Master’s Degree introduces the student to other fields necessary for their working and professional life, such as pedagogy or entrepreneurship.

The following are included as specialities:

  • Instruments typical of the symphony orchestra: (flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, violin, viola, cello and double bass) and Piano
  • Vocal performance
Duration

The Master’s Degree in Artistic Musical Performance consists of 60 European Credits (ECTS) which must be taken in one academic year.

It will be offered to candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Music Education.

Access will be through the annual ordinary audition process.

In accordance with the provisions of article 15 of R.D. 1614/2009, of October 26, which establishes the organization of higher artistic education regulated by Organic Law 2/2006, of May 3, on Education, to access official artistic master’s degrees it will be necessary to be in possession of one of the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Music Education, official university degree of Graduate or Graduate or its equivalent issued by an institution of the European Higher Education Area that empowers in the issuing country of the degree for access to Master’s education. (All bachelor’s degrees of 180 credits or equivalent will be understood to be included in this section, provided that they have recognized access to the master’s degree.)
  • Degrees obtained in accordance with educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area.

Students are expected to participate in all orchestra projects, chamber groups and any other activity programmed by the School for their benefit. Absence without justified permission could jeopardise their continuity at the School.

Admission to the Master’s Degree in Performance will be through the School’s ordinary annual audition process. Upon graduating with the Master’s Degree, the student will complete their studies at the School.

To continue their studies at the School, accessing other programs, the student must submit the corresponding application and successfully pass the selection process.
