The Reina Sofía School of Music offers different programs adapted to the different realities of the students, allowing them to take specific studies and adapted itineraries, in order to support the best talent.

Diploma in Musical Performance / Composition

The Diploma in Performance/Composition is a Study Program designed by the School, analogous to the Bachelor’s Degree but without official recognition.

This Diploma offers an academic and artistic program specifically designed for each student, without the teaching load existing in the Official Degrees.

The audition process will be focused on identifying the specific areas to develop or consolidate, after which the Dean and the Artistic Director, in consultation with the corresponding Professor, will design the academic and artistic program for the student.

    Preliminary studies

The Preliminary Studies consist of a preparation program for entry into an official study program or the Diploma in Performance/Composition, with an academic and artistic program designed to reinforce the student in the areas in which they need it most, to ensure that upon entering the Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree they will develop their potential in an optimal way.

The reasons for directing a candidate to this program can be diverse (age, low linguistic ability, lack of prior knowledge in harmony and analysis, etc.). The audition process will focus on, on the one hand, verifying the artistic potential of the candidate, as well as identifying the specific areas that need reinforcement, after which the Dean and the Artistic Director, considering the guidelines of the corresponding Professor, will design the academic and artistic program for the student.

      Postgraduate Diploma in Contemporary Piano

Directed by Florent Boffard, the program consists of six periods of instruction, each structured around personalized teaching in piano and chamber music. Students will immerse themselves in a diverse repertoire, ranging from Schoenberg to contemporary compositions.

The program director will design each session based on a specific theme, composer, or musical style, adapted to meet the individual needs of the students. In addition, the director will supervise the programming and preparation of contemporary projects for the School’s Sinfonietta events.

Through this comprehensive teaching approach, students will cultivate autonomy in their creative endeavors and explore the emergence of new writing styles.

        Admission

The only selection criterion is the talent of the candidate. The process consists of several phases:

        1. Online Registration
        2. Preselection
        3. Audition

The registration period for the 2025-2026 auditions is closed, but do not miss the opportunity to be informed about the 2026-2027 auditions.
