The general objective of teaching the Degree in Higher Artistic Music Education is the qualified training of professionals who master the knowledge of music and adopt the necessary attitudes that make them competent to integrate into the different professional fields of this discipline. These are studies established within the European Higher Education Area and the Bologna Plan that are comparable to a university Bachelor’s degree, as established in article 54 of LO 2/2006 on Education.

Content

The School offers the specialities of Performance and Conducting, opting for personalised teaching that seeks excellence and whose aspiration is to train complete artists.

Students will take basic training subjects such as Analysis, Harmony, Aural Training, History of Music, and Aesthetics and Philosophy of Music, completing the curriculum with other more practical and specific subjects.

    Performance Speciality

    Orchestral and percussion instruments (clarinet, double bass, bassoon, flute, oboe, horn, trumpet, viola, violin and cello)

    Composition Speciality

    Likewise, for those students seeking a career as composers, the School offers the speciality in Composition.

    Duration

    The study programme consists of 240 European Credits (ECTS) divided into 4 academic years.

    It will be offered to students over 18 years of age or who turn 18 in the same year in which they will begin their studies.

    In addition to the audition, students must take a specific entrance exam, the contents of which will be directly related to their musical discipline.

    It will be offered to students over 18 years of age or who turn 18 in the same year in which they will begin their studies and who meet the academic requirements for access.

    Students are expected to participate in all orchestra projects, chamber groups and any other activity programmed by the School for their benefit. Absence without justified permission could jeopardise their continuity at the School.

    Entry to the Degree in Higher Artistic Music Education will be through the ordinary annual audition process of the School. Upon graduating with the Degree, the student will complete their studies at the School.

    To access other training programmes at the School, the student must submit the corresponding application and successfully pass the selection process:

    • Progression to the official Master’s programme will be only through the annual audition process, submitting an application in the ordinary way.

    Order 2369/2011, of 10 June, which regulates, for the Community of Madrid, the specific entrance examination to the Higher Artistic Education Degrees regulated by Organic Law 2/2006, of 3 May, on Education.

    Authorization of Educational Center

    Instructions from the General Directorate of Artistic Education by which the organisation and operation of the 2025-2026 academic year in the higher art education centres in the Community of Madrid is regulated.
