CITADELLE QUARTET’S BIOGRAPHY

The Citadelle Quartet is a young French string quartet founded in 2024. Its members share a common enthusiasm for the string quartet repertoire and a strong commitment to musical integrity. They conceive the quartet as a laboratory— a space for experimentation and constant introspection. Their work is also inspired by literature, a passion shared by all four musicians.

The quartet studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) with François Salque and Jean Sulem, and in the advanced performance programme at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional (CRR) de Paris with Miguel Da Silva. In addition, since the 2026/27 academic year, he has been studying at the International Institute of Chamber Music of Madrid at the Reina Sofía School of Music. They have also received guidance from members of the Quatuor Ébène, Belcea Quartet, Strada Quartet, Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), Eugene Drucker (Emerson Quartet), and Marc Coppey (Ysaÿe Quartet). They regularly participate in masterclasses at ProQuartet – European Chamber Music Centre, where they are the resident youth ensemble for the 2025–2027 period.

The Citadelle Quartet has appeared at the Rencontres Musicales de La Baule, where they shared the stage with François Salque and Manuel Vioque-Judde. As part of the Génération Chaise-Dieu programme, they performed at the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu in August 2024, and in August 2025 they appeared at the La Roque d’Anthéron Festival.

In 2024, the quartet received the special “Cordes en Ballade” Prize, awarded by the Debussy Quartet at the FNAPEC European Chamber Music Competition (Musiques d’Ensemble). It has also won the First Prize at the 2026 Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award Competition in Lugano.
