The Master’s Degree in Dramatic Composition and for Instrumental Ensemble will lead the student to obtain advanced training, which will allow them to develop the skills and abilities necessary for the autonomous development of a musical career of a high artistic level.
Content
The orientation of this Master’s Degree is mainly professional and is aimed at musicians in general who want to deepen their knowledge in the specialty of composition, in addition to progressing in the knowledge of technological tools to be able to develop shows of music applied to different media (multimedia) and compose with the techniques of today destined to acoustic instruments.
These are studies instituted within the European Higher Education Area and the Bologna Plan that are comparable to a university Master’s degree, by virtue of the Resolution BOE May 17, 2022.
The Master’s Degree offers a program where one of the differential elements of the training is the emphasis placed on practices in composition for instrumental ensemble with or without soloist, electronic composition and composition for dramatic genre (mono drama).
Complementing the training as a composer, a series of subjects and activities are offered that include entrepreneurship, musical analysis, conferences with composers and professors, pedagogy and professional practices, including public presentation in all the forms listed above, all these elements contributing to the formation of a specific criterion.
Duration
The Master’s Degree in Dramatic Composition and for Instrumental Ensemble consists of 60 European Credits (ECTS) that must be taken in one academic year.
Demographics and Access
It will be offered to candidates who have completed their Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Music Education.
Access will be through the annual ordinary audition process.
In accordance with the provisions of article 15 of R.D. 1614/2009, of October 26, which establishes the organization of higher artistic education regulated by Organic Law 2/2006, of May 3, on Education, to access official artistic master’s degrees it will be necessary to be in possession of one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Music Education, official university degree of Graduate or Graduate or its equivalent issued by an institution of the European Higher Education Area that empowers in the issuing country of the degree for access to Master’s education. (All bachelor’s degrees of 180 credits or equivalent will be understood to be included in this section, provided that they have recognized access to the master’s degree.)
- Degrees obtained in accordance with educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area.

Artistic Commitment
Students are expected to participate in all projects and any other activity programmed by the School for their benefit. Absenteeism without justified permission could jeopardize continuity in the School.
Academic Route
Entry into the Master’s Degree in Dramatic Composition and for Instrumental Ensemble will be through the annual ordinary audition process of the School. Upon graduating with the Master’s Degree, the student will finish their studies at the School.
To continue their studies at the School, accessing other programs, the student must submit the corresponding application and successfully pass the selection process.

Recognition of studies
Foreigners who want to pursue official Bachelor’s or Master’s studies must validate their previous studies. For more information, you can consult the sections of the Ministry of Education related to the Validation of non-university studies (Baccalaureate) and the Validation of degrees from foreign education systems.
The validation process must be initiated in person and should be submitted prior to September 1.
The documents required for the validation of studies and higher degrees of artistic education are the following:
- Verified copy of the academic certification of the courses taken, which includes the following data:
- total duration of the study plan completed to obtain the degree that is contributed.
- duration of each of the subjects taken by the applicant to obtain the degree that is accredited.
- Verified copy of the academic certification accrediting the studies corresponding to special regime education taken prior to those intended to be validated.
- Verified copy of the certification issued by the educational authorities of the country of origin justifying the following:
- Academic validity of the studies in the national scope.
- Academic level of the degree or studies in the educational system of the country of origin.
- Academic degree awarded by the degree obtained, if applicable.
- Studies that can be accessed in the educational system of origin with the academic degree provided.
- Verified copy of the degree or, where appropriate, of the academic certification accrediting the completion of previous Baccalaureate studies or equivalent.
IMPORTANT: The documents must be official and, where appropriate, be duly legalized and accompanied by an official translation into Spanish.
The verified copies are made at the time of submitting the application and/or documentation in any registry of a Spanish administration, presenting the original (which is returned once the document has been scanned). The verified copy must be made once the originals have been legalized.
