“To enter, to begin, and to flourish” are the three meanings of the Latin word “Ineo,” chosen by the quartet as its name.

Despite its recent formation, the Ineo Quartet has a long and exciting history. Both violinists of the quartet are founding members of the Selini Quartet, which disbanded in 2022 after seven successful years. However, the violinists decided to continue playing in the quartet and, in early 2023, presented the reformed group under the name “Ineo” with two new members.

The years as the Selini Quartet brought them numerous awards in international competitions, such as the “Prague Spring International Music Competition,” the “Ysaye International Music Competition,” and the “Szymanowski International Music Competition,” as well as performances at festivals such as the Salzburg Festival and the Grafenegg Festival in Austria, the Festival van Vlaanderen in Ghent, Belgium, the Ickinger Frühling in Germany, the Nafplion Festival in Greece, and the Festspillene Helgeland in Norway, among others.

The quartet has performed in concerts worldwide, representing the Austrian music scene. Since 2019, the quartet has also been part of the ECMA – European Chamber Music Academy, where ensembles are supervised by some of the most prominent chamber music specialists and have the opportunity to perform in major concert halls and festivals across Europe.

The Ineo Quartet has performed in Austria at Viennese venues such as the Beethoven Museum, the MuseumsQuartier, and the Austrian Parliament, during the “Echo des Unerhörten” concert series at the Ehrbarsaal, as well as at the “Styrian Chamber Music Festival” in Graz.

Internationally, the Ineo Quartet made its debut in Paris (France), performing at the Conservatoire National des Arts. They have also been invited to perform at festivals such as “Trame Sonore” in Mantua (Italy) and the “Sion Festival” (Switzerland), where they had the opportunity to play alongside artists such as Pablo Barragán (clarinetist), Reinhard Latzko (cellist), and Lena Belkina (mezzo-soprano).

The quartet is a member of the chamber music associations “Le Dimore del Quartetto” and and ProQuartet.

Since its formation, they have worked under the guidance of Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartet) and have been inspired by musicians such as Alfred Brendel, Quatuor Diotima, François Kieffer (Quatuor Modigliani), and Günther Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet).

Future projects include performances at concert halls such as the Wiener Musikverein and and the Ehrbarsaal in Vienna, as well as at festivals such as “Musik im Kontext” in Berlin. In the summer of 2024, the quartet also plans to record a CD, which will include a string quartet by the contemporary Austrian composer Richard Dünser, dedicated to them.
