Michelangeli Trio
The Michelangeli Trio, founded in Munich and formed by violinist Javier Comesaña, cellist Alessandra Doninelli, and pianist Riccardo Gagliardi, is united not only by friendship but also by their profound love for the chamber music repertoire. The Michelangeli Trio performs on the stages of international festivals and seasons in Europe. They have studied with musicians from the world stage, such as Marco Rizzi, Wen-Sinn Yang, Werner Bärtschi, Oliver Wille, Bernd Glemser, and Margarita Höhenrieder-Dornier. In March 2023, the Michelangeli Trio won 1st prize in the “Giulio Rospigliosi” international competition in Italy. In addition, the trio is one of the eleven chamber music ensembles invited to the “Osaka International Chamber Music Competition & Festa” in May 2023 in Japan.
The trio is currently studying with professors Silke Avenhaus and Raphaël Merlin in the chamber music master’s program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. From the 23-24 academic year, they will study at the International Chamber Music Institute of Madrid at the Reina Sofía School of Music with Günter Pichler.
All three members boast national and international successes not only in chamber music but also as soloists: Javier Comesaña has performed as a soloist with the National Orchestra of Spain, Riccardo Gagliardi has been awarded in more than 20 international competitions, and Alessandra Doninelli debuted as a soloist at the Berlin Philharmonic and on some of the world’s most prestigious stages.
