He began his violin studies with his father, J. Ramón Hevia, and Yuri Nasushkin at the Oviedo Superior Conservatory of Music, later expanding his training with Keiko Wataya at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he graduated with Cum Laude honors. His development as a musician has been shaped under the tutelage of eminent pedagogues such as Rainer Schmidt (Hagen Quartet), Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartet), and Walter Levin (LaSalle Quartet) at institutions such as the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid and the Musikhochschule in Basel.

His main concert activity is developed as violinist of the Quiroga Quartet, recognized for its bold and innovative interpretations, performing in the most prestigious halls of the international scene (Wigmore Hall London, Lincoln Center New York, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, National Auditorium, Palau de la Música Catalana, Philarmonie Berlin, Mozarteum Salzburg, National Gallery Washington D.C., Amsterdam String Quartet Biennale, Da Camera Los Angeles, Stadtcasino Basel, etc.) and sharing the stage with artists of the stature of Valentin Erben, Veronika Hagen, Martha Argerich, Javier Perianes, Jörg Widmann, Antje Weithaas, Richard Lester, David Kadouch, etc. Awarded in the most relevant string quartet competitions (Bordeaux, Paolo Borciani, Geneva, Beijing), he received the National Music Prize 2018 and Ojo Crítico 2017. He has had the honor of being responsible for the Palatina collection of decorated Stradivarius from the Royal Palace.

As a solo violin, he recorded Vivaldi’s Four Seasons with Forma Antiqva for Winter&Winter, a recording that has received unanimous applause from specialized critics and the public, being described as “The best Four Seasons in history” (Diverdi, Eduardo Torrico), inferring that “…never before has there been an interpretation of The Four Seasons like that of Forma Antiqva and soloist Aitor Hevia” (JPC Editorial, Norbert Richter).

In addition to his chamber activity, he has performed as a soloist with the Principality of Asturias Symphony Orchestra, has been concertmaster of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), guest concertmaster of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the Da Camera orchestra, having the opportunity to work with masters such as Carlo Maria Giulini, Sir Colin Davis, Bernard Haitink, Aarón Zapico, Jordi Savall, Pablo González, and Antonio Méndez, among others.

His firm commitment to teaching violin and chamber music has led him to give master classes in courses, festivals, higher education institutions, and youth orchestras such as JONDE, in Spain, Holland, the USA, Colombia, Sweden, etc. Currently, and since 2008, he is the head of the String Quartet Chair at the Aragón Superior Conservatory of Music (CSMA) and Professor of Violin and String Quartet at the Llanes International Music Course.

From the academic year 2025-2026, he will be an associate professor of the Telefónica Violin Chair at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid.
