Born in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) in 1937, he entered the Barcelona Conservatory where he trained in conducting with Eduardo Toldrá, with Celibidache in Siena, and with Martinon in Düsseldorf. He held the position of conductor of several orchestras, such as the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (1965), the Barcelona City Orchestra (1967), the National Orchestra (1978-1981), and the Royal Philharmonic of Galicia. He has conducted most of the most emblematic operas with great success and has recorded the zarzuelas Doña Francisquita, Bohemios, La Verbena de la Paloma, Goyescas, and Luisa Fernanda, all of which have been highly acclaimed by critics. In recent years, he has focused on composition, and the upcoming premiere of the opera Walter Benjamin at Port Bou, his Quartet Tardoral, and the Divertimento Concertante in F, whose world premiere will take place at the Santander Music and Academy Encounter, are the result of this. Ros Marbà has been awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi and the National Music Prize, among others.
