He was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1972. He studied with Margaret Hair at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and later moved to the Moscow State Conservatory, where he studied with Professor Lev Vlassenko, graduating with a master’s degree in Piano Performance. Since 1997, he has resided in Madrid, where he has taken advanced courses under the direction of pianist Joaquín Soriano.

Between 2002 and 2019, he was a professor and accompanying pianist at the Reina Sofía School of Music, in the Telefónica Violin Chair of Professor Marco Rizzi, and from 2014 to 2021, he also held the same position in the “Alfredo Kraus” Voice Chair of the Ramón Areces Foundation.

He has received several prestigious international awards, including first prize at the José Iturbi International Competition in Spain (1998), third prize at the Sydney (1992) and Montreal (1996) international piano competitions, fourth prize at the Dublin International Competition (1994), and the Maria Callas Grand Prix in Athens (2000).

He has given recitals in many countries in Europe and Asia. In 1999, he made his debut in the United States, playing at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York and at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles. Since arriving in Spain, he has developed an intense concert career, with appearances in the best venues in Spain, such as the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the National Auditorium in Madrid, the Teatro Monumental in Madrid, and the Juan March Foundation.

In addition, he has performed as a soloist with the Valencia Orchestra, Malaga Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Mozart Orchestra of Rome, National Orchestra of Ireland, Montreal Metropolitan Orchestra, Czech National Orchestra, Romanian National Radio Orchestra, St. Petersburg Chamber Orchestra, and the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra.

In 1993, he released his first CD recording, “Clásicos ABC”, performing music by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff. His 1995 CD recording of the complete Debussy Preludes on the Walsingham label received unanimous critical acclaim in Australia and the United States and was nominated as Australian Recording of the Year. He recently recorded his third album with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, featuring works for piano and orchestra by Saint-Saëns, Franck, and Vincent D’Indy. Since 2019, he has been a professor in the specialty of repertoire with piano for voice at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid.
