The Music and Culture Summer Camp is a programme offering complete immersion in music from the Albéniz Foundation, where students from 12 to 17 years of age take part in a 2-week programme taught in English at the Reina Sofía School of Music.
This is a unique opportunity to improve technique with the instrument or get started in music with teachers from the School, which is combined with theory classes, languages, cultural activities, sport and lots of fun.
The Music and Culture Summer Camp is held during the day at the facilities of the Reina Sofía School of Music in the historic Plaza de Oriente in Madrid, right in front of the Royal Palace.
Participants come from throughout Spain and the rest of the world. Students from outside Madrid (entire Campus) are housed in the renovated San Pablo Student Residence. In this same building, students residing in Madrid (Day Campus) eat lunch and do afternoon activities along with their fellow classmates. With a swimming pool, gym and sports facilities, this is the perfect place to relax after classes and practising their instruments.
Halfway through the program, participants enjoy a weekend away to attend the Santander Encounter of Music and Academia, where various high-level students from the very best schools in Europe join renowned international figures in classical music to offer concerts throughout the region of Cantabria. Students at the Summer Camp will be able to enjoy concerts, master classes and many leisure activities in a city that is unique for its beauty and culture.
The Summer Camp is complemented with cultural visits to major museums in Madrid and workshops on the making of stringed-instruments, so that students can delve into Spanish culture in a complete immersion programme, which culminates with a final concert in the Sony Auditorium, belonging to the Reina Sofía School of Music.
The Music and Culture Summer Camp, in addition to offering the best musical training, is a great place to connect with young people from all over the world, share a passion for music and make life-long friends.
