Application Process

Application Form

It is completed online and the following information is required:

  • Study program in which you want to enroll (Degree in Higher Artistic Music Education, Master’s Degree, Preliminary Studies, Diploma in Musical Interpretation / Composition or Diploma in Orchestra Conducting).
  • Audition for which you want to apply (it is possible to choose more than one).
  • Information about your previous studies.
  • Two academic references: contact of the Instrument professor and the head of studies, director or dean. You can inform these people that we will request information about the candidate to assess their registration. It is not allowed to request references from a person who is part of the jury.
  • Language level certificates in case they are available.
  • A letter of motivation, indicating the reasons why you want to study at the School.
  • Artistic biography (a text of up to 900 characters).
  • Pieces chosen according to the mandatory repertoire (see repertoire by professorship below).
  • For the preselection:
    • Two recent recordings. Two works of contrasting style (it can be the complete work or an isolated movement). At least one of the two works must be accompanied by live piano. There is no time limit on the duration of the recording.
    • An optional third video showing another activity: chamber music, soloist…
  • At the end of the form, it will be necessary to pay an enrollment fee of 120 euros.

Candidates for the Composition Professorship must also submit a dossier composed of the following for the preselection:

  • Previous works to the study, including scores (pdf); if possible, recordings that include a brief presentation of these.
  • CV detailing previous studies.

To register for the auditions of the Reina Sofía School of Music, it is necessary to pay a registration fee of 120 euros. This fee is unique, whether you are applying for one professorship or several, and will be paid after completing the registration form.

If you pass the phase of preselection for the auditions, we will notify you through GetAccepted one month before the date of your audition. The School will not provide the reasons for approving or denying an application in any case. These entail a audition fee of 30 euros that must be paid before the date of the audition.

The auditions are in person at the School’s headquarters (Madrid, Spain).

For any questions that may arise during the process, you can consult the Frequently Asked Questions page.
