Denis Lossev is an assistant professor in the Milana Chernyavska Piano Chair at the Reina Sofía School of Music. He previously worked with Dmitri Bashkirov (2010–2021) and served as an accompanying pianist in the Zakhar Bron Violin Chair (2006–2010).
Born in St. Petersburg, he trained at the Special School for Gifted Children and the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory. In 1997, he moved to Madrid on a scholarship from the Reina Sofía School to study with Dmitri Bashkirov. He subsequently obtained the Higher Diplomas in Piano and Performance from the École Normale de Musique de Paris.
He made his debut as a soloist at the age of 19 in the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, receiving great acclaim from both critics and the public. He was the first pianist to perform Benjamin Britten’s Concerto on that stage since Sviatoslav Richter.
He has given recitals in halls and festivals such as the Ruhr Piano Festival, the National Auditorium of Madrid, and the Moscow Conservatory. He has received masterclasses from Maria João Pires, Alexis Weissenberg, and Michel Béroff.
