44 Duos for Two Violins Sz 98 BB 104 (version for two violas)

31. Újévköszöntő (New Year’s Greeting) (4)

Antoine Tamestit, guest professor

Bella Chich, alumna

Luosha Fang, alumna

Professor Tamestit discusses the marcato with the students and how to approach it, not so detached, more in the style of folk music. He also comments that the second voice sounds a bit distant… in reality, it is more Bartók because the first voice is taken directly from folklore. Therefore, intensity must not be lost.
Later on, Tamestit also talks about the rhythmic complexity of the piece (4+3+3) and gives several examples. Finally, he indicates that the tempo can be a little more pesante because it is Allegro non troppo.
