In this 2nd part of the masterclass on the first movement of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, Feren Rados continues at the piano, making suggestions on phrasing, articulation, rhythm, and anticipation before the entries, primarily on the violin and cello. Following a question from the violinist about a certain passage, the professor gives her indications on the corresponding accents and anacruses. Afterward, the students resume the performance of the movement. The professor gives them indications (singing it or playing it on the piano) to improve phrasing, articulation, attacks with the bow, or execution of the sforzati, and compares it to Schubert’s Military March, and also mentions Brahms and Mahler.
To improve the rhythm of triplets in ritardando on the violin, the professor proposes that the student play them while he marks the tempo by taking steps. He then works with the cello, pausing to improve its melody, and also makes a digression with the violinist to reflect on musicality (maintainedwithin a framework). Later, the professor makes other comments regarding the articulation and phrasing of a certain part of the violin, and concludes with some suggestions regarding the modulating sections and parts where harmonic changes occur, making a brief analysis of the main moments.
