BACH, Johann Sebastian
Partita for flute in A minor BWV 1013 (clarinet version)
IV. Bourrée anglaise
Michel Arrignon, professor
Raúl Traver Castello, student
The first thing Professor Arrignon points out to the student is not to play too much staccato, not to make the articulation so short. In the repetitions of the melody, the dynamics should not be so strong. The character when playing should be more cheerful and enjoyable, not so calm. They review some notes of a passage: some should be marked more than others. The professor also indicates that there should be more dynamic contrast in the repetitions.
Afterwards, he corrects a certain rhythm and finally points out to the student that he should practice thinking about obtaining a wider sound, not so constricted (the fortes should not only be forte but should have a wide sound). Arrignon demonstrates by playing and the student practices it again. Perhaps it is because the mouth is too closed and he should open it more so that the sound has more body and is more sonorous (he does it better when repeating it).
