Awarded at the I José Iturbi International Music Competition of America, XVI José Iturbi International Piano Competition of Valencia, IX Concours-Grieg International Piano Competition of Oslo, and laureate for his interpretations of Spanish Music, Frederick Chopin and Edvard Grieg, Ángel Cabrera is internationally considered one of the best pianists of his generation, “arousing respect in his interpretations for his gentleness and vitality and distinguishing himself for his intimate and colorful sound” in the words of specialized critics.

He was born in Guadalajara (Spain). He studied with Esther Zillarbide at the conservatory of his hometown, with Fernando Puchol at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid, and with Galina Eguiazarova at the Reina Sofía School of Music, receiving the Diploma for Best Piano Performer from the hands of H.M. Queen Sofía and the Higher Titles of piano and chamber music with “End of Career Award”. He finished his studies with Boris Bloch at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen, Germany, obtaining the prestigious “Soloist Diploma”. At the same time, he received advice from Aldo Ciccolini, Rosalyn Tureck, Krystian Zimerman, Martha Gulyas, Vitaly Margulis, Claude Frank, and Peter Serkin, among others.

Since his debut at the National Music Auditorium of Madrid in the “21st Century Soloists” cycle, Ángel Cabrera began an intense artistic career, performing in most European countries, North Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and America, acting in prestigious international festivals such as the Klavier Festival Ruhr in Essen, Sociedad de Conciertos de Friburg, Festival de Montpellier, Academie Musicale de Villecroze, Encounter of Music and Academy of Santander, Ibero-American Festival Manuel de Falla, UAM Grandes Autores e Intérpretes de la Música, Festival Al Bustan Lebanon, International Cultural Festival of Symphonic Music of Algiers, Chopin Unwrapped London, and Tanglewood Festival of the United States.

He regularly performs in halls such as the National Music Auditorium of Madrid, Palau de la Música of Valencia, Palacio de Festivales of Cantabria, Konzerthaus of Bern, Konzerthaus of Dortmund, Concert House of Oslo, Arnold Schoerberg Hall in Los Angeles, Seiji Ozawa Hall in Tanglewood, Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall, Beijing Concert Hall, and La Scala of Milan.

As a soloist, he has performed, among others, with orchestras such as the ESMRS Orchestra, Valencia Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonieorchester of Dortmund, and the TMC Orchestra of Tanglewood under the direction of Cristian Macelaru, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Juanjo Mena, George Alexander Albrecht, and Max Bragado.

In addition to the numerous live recordings for RNE, RTVE, Radio France, Classicsfm, and Canal Internacional, among his most recent discographic works are “Songs of Paolo Tosti” with Francisco Corujo, the complete songs of F. Chopin with Iwona Sobotka, and “Cabrera plays Debussy” for the Playclassics label.
