Born in Yorkshire (United Kingdom) in 1947. He earned a degree in French and Spanish at the University of Sheffield in 1968. After two years devoted to the comparative study of contemporary theatre, he decided to dedicate himself entirely to teaching, first French and Spanish as foreign languages in Manchester, and then English, serving as a teacher and later as director of studies at the Sagasta Language Centre in Madrid.

He expanded his professional qualifications with the certificate of aptitude awarded by the Official School of Languages of Madrid and the Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) diploma from the Royal Society of Arts in London. He also entered the publishing world as director for the Iberian Peninsula of the British publishing house ‘Thomas Nelson and Sons’, participating in the creation of textbooks and offering training workshops for teachers.

Currently, he is a professor of English at the Reina Sofía School of Music, editorial director of the professional pedagogical journal English Teaching, and director of a series of methodology books for English teachers.
