(Sampedor, Spain) Laia Masramon is one of Spain’s most prominent pianists. Widely recognized internationally, she has performed in major concert halls across Europe, Colombia, and the United States, as well as at prestigious festivals such as Santander, Peralada, Solistes de l’Europe in Brussels, the Open Chamber Music Festival at IMS Prussia Cove, The Oxford Philomusica International Piano Festival, Ittingen Kartause in Switzerland, Temple University in Philadelphia, and Freunde Alter Musik in Basel.
She began her studies at age 6 and gave her first recital at age 11. At 15, Lawrence Foster selected her to perform as a soloist with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, while at 17, she debuted at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona. She earned her degree at 19 under the tutelage of Carlos Julià and Ramon Coll. Between 2001 and 2006, she studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music with Galina Eguiazarova, and subsequently obtained a Master’s in Fortepiano and Historical Performance with Edoardo Torbianelli at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She has attended masterclasses with important figures such as Ferenc Rados, Krystian Zimerman, Alicia de Larrocha, and András Schiff, among others.
As a soloist, she has performed with the Spanish National Orchestra, Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, Prague Philharmonia Orchestra, Musikè Ensemble, Capriccio Barockorchester, and Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra. She is part of several chamber groups, including the Höbarth, Schlichtig, Richter, and Masramon Quartet, and a duo with soprano Eugenia Boix. She has shared the stage with internationally renowned musicians such as Maurice Bourgue, Sergio Azzolini, Radovan Vlatkovic, Hansjörg Schellenberger, and the Carmina Quartett. She has also recorded for SONY Spain and IBS Classical.
Currently, in addition to maintaining her career as a concert pianist, she is a piano professor for the Higher Degree and the Master’s in Solo Performance at the Katarina Gurska Higher Center in Madrid. Simultaneously, she teaches piano and chamber music courses in Spain, Colombia, Tunisia, and Andorra.
