Paolo Taballione completed his higher education at the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Genève under the tutelage of Jacques Zoon, obtaining in 2007 the Diplôme de Soliste “avec Distinction”, awarded unanimously. Parallel to his flute studies, he studied piano, harmony, and composition, completing his specialization with Franco Carotenuto at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome in 2008.
He has been awarded numerous national and international prizes, including First Prize at the Concorso Internazionale di Musica del XX e XXI secolo “Valentino Bucchi” (2004) and unanimous First Prize at the Concorso Internazionale “Domenico Cimarosa” (2005), presided over by Maxence Larrieu.
In 004, Riccardo Muti appointed him principal flute of the Orchestra Giovanile “Luigi Cherubini”, thus beginning a distinguished career as a soloist. Since then, he has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician in major European venues—including the Wiener Musikverein, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Teatro San Carlo in Naples—and with ensembles such as the Bayerische Staatsorchester, the Bach Collegium München, and the Georgian Sinfonietta.
Between 2006 and 2008 he served as principal flute of the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino under the direction of Zubin Mehta, and since 2008 he has held the same position at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. He has collaborated with prestigious orchestras such as the Filarmonica della Scala in Milan, the Münchner Philharmoniker, and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester, performing under the baton of renowned conductors such as Lorin Maazel, Seiji Ozawa, and Kirill Petrenko.
Since 2018, he has been a professor at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg and regularly participates in international festivals and academies such as MusicaRivaFestival, Ravenna Festival, and Senzoku Gakuen University. His artistic activity also includes recordings for Bayerischer Rundfunk and RAI Filodiffusione.
