The Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía’s commitment to excellence is reflected in this series that brings together its musicians with the greatest artistic potential on the stage of the Auditorio Nacional de Música.
On this occasion, the School’s talent comes together to offer a special concert in tribute to one of the greatest composers of the 20th century: György Ligeti.
A key figure of the European avant-garde, Ligeti developed a deeply personal language that oscillates between mechanical precision and unparalleled sonic plasticity. This program traces a journey through some of his most representative works, from the incisive concision of the Six Bagatelles to the rhythmic exploration of the Piano Études. The Sonata for solo viola and the Trio for violin, horn and piano will also be performed, along with Bartók’s Contrasts, a work that shows affinities in the Central European roots of both composers.
