Madrid, January 21, 2020.- Next Saturday, February 1st, from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM, the Reina Sofía School of Music opens its doors to the public, in an afternoon where attendees can enjoy live concerts, guided tours, and a new music and virtual reality activity to showcase the daily life of the students of this institution.
The School, which receives around 160 young musicians of more than 30 nationalities each year, is a leading center in Europe for musical training. The Open Day will allow the public to discover the uniqueness of this institution, the only one of its kind in Spain, and why it attracts young talents from all over the world.
The day’s program, with free admission until full capacity is reached, includes a varied musical program, consisting of a concert for families, a Vivaldi concert, a singing concert, a double bass concert, which will perform versions of music from ‘Star Wars’, among others, and as the closing of the day, a Latin music concert.
In addition, throughout the afternoon, the public will be able to enjoy an innovative virtual reality and music activity, a musical appreciation workshop, and guided tours of the School, which will take place every half hour from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM and will allow the public to get to know the School from the inside.

OPEN DAY PROGRAM, FEBRUARY 1, 2020
- GUIDED TOURS OF THE BUILDING. From 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM there will be guided tours of the entire building every half hour, a unique opportunity to get to know the School from the hand of its students and staff. Online booking is complete, but there will be a shift every half hour open to the public in person on a strict first-come, first-served basis.
- WORKSHOP “ENJOY THE MUSIC”. 4:30 PM-5:30 PM: From the hand of an expert disseminator, attendees will learn in an easy and entertaining way to appreciate classical music and enjoy its many facets and nuances.
- MUSIC AND VIRTUAL REALITY. 4:30 PM-7:30 PM: Get on stage with our musicians with an innovative experience with virtual reality glasses.
- FREE CONCERTS:
- 4:30 PM-5:30 PM: Children’s concert. Works by Beethoven presented by professor and pedagogue Francisco Torrent will be performed.
- 6:00 PM-6:30 PM: Vivaldi Concert. A baroque ensemble will play fragments of Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
- 6:40 PM-7:00 PM: Singing Concert. Our singing students will perform arias and duets from the history of opera.
- 7:30 PM-8:00 PM: Double Bass Quartet. The double bass as you have never heard it before. Galactic versions and some surprises.
- 8:10 PM-8:40 PM: Latin music. The Latin American students of the School bring their roots to the stage.
