Queen Sofía Presides the Board of Trustees of the Reina Sofía School of Music

Madrid, March 11, 2025. – Her Majesty Queen Sofía, Honorary President of the Reina Sofía School of Music, presided over the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the School, the main representative body of this center for advanced musical training.

The President of the School, Paloma O’Shea, expressed her gratitude for the presence of Her Majesty Queen Sofía, and welcomed the representatives of the public institutions: Paz Santa Cecilia Aristu, General Director of INAEM; Emilio Viciana, Minister of Education, Science and Universities of the Community of Madrid; and Santiago Herrero, Director of Cultural and Scientific Relations of the AECID.

Many private patrons have also shown their support for the School’s work with their presence and learned about the new developments for the coming months.

The General Director of the Reina Sofía School, Julia Sánchez, presented the progress made at the School regarding its Strategic Plan 2024/2028, with the milestones and objectives to be worked on so that the institution continues to grow, both in its academic offerings, its social impact, and its international reach.

The members of the Board of Trustees also had the opportunity to experience firsthand one of the School’s latest and most innovative proposals, an immersion in a musical creation workshop, in which they were able to experience how music can not only convey emotions, but also be a key tool in innovation, learning, and the progress of society and the organizations that are part of it. This initiative is part of the recently launched alliance between the School and the company Musical Thinkers, which aims to revolutionize the way teams, people, and organizations, mainly in the corporate environment, develop their creativity and leadership skills thanks to the transformative power of music.

The Board of Trustees of the Reina Sofía School is composed of a large group of personalities representing different sectors of society, committed to the educational and artistic work carried out by this center of international reference for the teaching of young musicians. This year, the following have joined the Board of Trustees: José Arnau, Vice President of Inditex; Agustín Vivancos, Founder and CEO of Jungle; and Antonio Pulido, President of the Cajasol Foundation.
