Services
Consultation

The catalogue can be accessed through the Library tab on the Reina Sofía School of Music website. From there, users can consult the library’s holdings, check their loans, and reserve books or scores.

Loan

All students and faculty of the School can borrow materials. Materials must be requested two days in advance, either in person or by sending an email to biblioteca@albeniz.com. The loan period is 15 days, with a maximum of 6 documents at a time. Reference works, out-of-print or valuable books and scores, as well as academic concerts or concert series, are excluded from loan.

Online Catalogue

Access the library database and catalogue via: https://albeniz.janium.net. Students and faculty must sign in with a username and password.

Digital Library

Digitized scores from the library’s collection: The database of digitized scores is available only from library computers at http://192.168.1.140:8080/, using a username and password.

Newzik. This academic year we have subscribed to this score management and reading platform. Students will have received an email to register with a username (first name and surname) and password. Scores for each project (Choir, Orchestra, Sinfonietta, Camerata, HIP, etc.) will be uploaded to this platform.

Digital Resources

  • The Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians: An encyclopaedic dictionary of music and musicians, regarded by many scholars as the best reference source. https://www.oxfordmusiconline.com/

  • JSTOR: A multidisciplinary database of academic journals accessible in full text. https://www.jstor.org/
  • We currently have subscriptions to the journals: Opera Now, Gramophone, and Classical Music, accessible through this link.
  • We also have subscriptions to The Strad and Scherzo, but they require a username and password for access. Students may request this information from the library staff.
Acquisition

Students may request the library to purchase materials they need for their concerts or assignments. The Dean will review these requests and, together with the teaching staff, decide which materials should be acquired.

Requests may be submitted in the following ways:

  • Online: Through the library catalogue, by accessing user services and completing the "Requests" tab.
  • In person: By filling out the form available in the library.
  • By email: Sending a request to biblioteca@albeniz.com.
Videoma

The library’s consultation stations also provide access, through the Videoma tool, to a service for students to view and, where permitted, download videos recorded by the School.

Videoma includes all concerts from the Sony Auditorium and masterclasses authorised for recording, which are added throughout the academic year to a large repository of concerts and historic classes. It also contains recordings not produced directly at the School, such as the inaugural and closing orchestral concerts.
