Álvaro Parrón Hidalgo

Born in Madrid, Spain, in 2001. Since 2022, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación “La Caixa” French Horn Chair with professor Radovan Vlatković. He has been granted scholarships by Conserjería de Educación, Universidades y Ciencia de la Comunidad de Madrid and Fundación Albéniz.

He began to study french horn at the age of eight at the Getafe Professional Music Conservatory with professor Maximiliano Santos.

In 2013, he began his music studies at the Federico Moreno Torroba in Madrid, graduating in 2019 with an End-of-Degree Award for his instrument performance. Later, he began his studies at the Madrid Royal Music Conservatory with Honours in his first year.

In 2020 he was admitted into the Hochschule fur Musik in Freiburg with professor José Vicente Castelló. He has also attended masterclasses by Matias Piñeira and Pirmin Grehl (chamber music), among others.

In 2011, at the age of ten he was awarded second prize at the French Horn Competition of the Region of Madrid.

As a student of the School, he has been a member of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Juanjo Mena and Péter Csaba, and has been part of the Strauss Quintet. He is currently a member of the Zéphyros Quintet.
