Antoni Ros Marbà

He was born in Llobregat, Barcelona, in 1937. He studied at the Barcelona Conservatory under the guidance of Eduardo Toldrá, with Celibidache in Sienna and with Martinon in Düsseldorf. He has conducted several orchestras such as the Radiotelevisión Española Symphony Orchestra, 1965; the Ciudad de Barcelona Orchestra, 1967; the National Orchestra, 1978-1981; and the Royal Symphony of Galicia Orchestra. He has conducted most emblematic operas successfully and has recorded zarzuelas such as Doña Francisquita, Bohemios, La Verbena de la Paloma, Goyescas and Luisa Fernanda, all of them very well received by the critics. In recent years he has focused on composition and as a result, he has written the soon to be premiered Walter Benjamin at Port Bou, his Tardoral Quartet and the Divertimento Concertante in F, whose world premier will take place at the Santander Encounter of Music and Academy. Ros Marbà has been granted the Creu de Sant Jordi and the National Music Awards, among others.
