Gala Kossakowski Baladrón

Born in Zamora (Spain) in 1996. From 2013 to 2019 she studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Flute Chair with professor Jacques Zoon and in 2017 she received the Diploma to the most outstanding student of her chair.
In 2005 she started her flute education at the Adolfo Salazar Conservatory in Madrid with Salvador Requena. Later on, she furthered her education with Juana Guillem. She has also attended masterclasses by Samuel Coles. She has been awarded second prize in the junior category at the 8th Andalucía Flauta Prize in Córdoba, as well as at the 7th César Uceda Competition. In 2005 she entered the Children Choir of the Community of Madrid, with which she has performed in many productions at the Royal Theatre. In 2015 she collaborated with the Wind Ensemble of the Spanish National Orchestra (ONE) under the baton of Miguel Romea, and in 2016 with the Symphony Orchestra of Madrid. In 2019 she was selected by the European Union Youth Orchestra to perform under the baton of Vasily Petrenko and Stéphane Déneve in several Austrian and Italian towns, Muscat (Oman), at Luxembourg’s Grand Auditorium Philharmonie, Amsterdam’s Het Concertgebouw, Saarbrücken, Berlin’s Konzerthaus, and Hamburg’s Elbphilarmonie. In 2020 she obtained the Young Musicians of Catalonia Award at the Primer Palau Competition (Barcelona).
As a student of the Reina Sofía School, she has been member of the Ondina Ensemble as well as of the Google Da Vinci Ensemble and Fundación Orange Voces Tempo Ensemble. She is currently member of the O Globo Quintet, with which she was awarded with the Diploma to the most outstanding wind ensemble of her department in 2017.
