Mateusz Marek Mikolajczak

Born in Wschowa, Poland, in 1997. Since 2021, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación Banco Santander Piano Chair with professor Milana Chernyavska. He has been granted scholarships by Santander Bank Polska and Fundación Albéniz.

He began his piano studies at the age of 6 with Joanna Samelczak at the Karol Kurpinski Primary School of Music in his hometown, where he studied until 2010. Between 2010 and 2016 he continued his training at Wroclaw’s Karol Szymanowski General Primary and Secondary Music School with professor Helena Furmanowicz-Kurzynska and at Wroclaw’s Karol Lipinski Academy of Music with professor Grzegorz Kurzynski.

He has attended masterclasses by Orla McDonagh, Manana Gotsiridze, Rita Kinka, Aaron Shorr, Philippe Giusiano, Andrzej Jasinski, Wojciech Switala, Stefan Wojtas, Stanislav Ioudenitch, and Rena Shereshevskaya.

He has also given a great number of recitals in Poland and abroad.

In 2021 he has been awarded third prize at the Busan Maru International Music Festival Competition (South Korea).

As a student of the School, he has been part of the Sinfonietta under the baton of Johannes Kalitzke, and he is a member of the Casa de la Moneda Scarlatti Ensemble.
