Philippe Pierlot

Philippe Pierlot

Philippe Pierlot began studying the flute with Joseph Rampal, of whom he was the last pupil. He received advice from Jean-Pierre Rampal and Alain Marion, and five years later he entered the Paris Conservatoire, where he obtained First Prizes in Flute and Chamber Music. Shortly afterwards, he also won the Barcelona International Competition (2nd prize). While holding the position of principal flute with the Orchestre National de France, he embarked on an international career as a soloist and as chamber musician. His eclectic repertoire ranges from Vivaldi to Gubaidulina and Claude Bolling, and his latest recording is devoted to four concertos by Benda, CPE Bach, Hertel and Stamitz. Philippe Pierlot teaches regularly at the Conservatoire National de Région de Rueil-Malmaison, and masterclasses all throughout the world.
