Encounter of Santander
Born in Madrid, Alberto Álvarez started to study piano at the age of 7 with Agustín Serrano.
He graduated in Royal Conservatory of Music of Madrid with Pilar Bilbao, finishing his studies with honors and winning the Extraordinary End-of-degree Prize.
He perfected his studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music with the prestigious teacher Galina Eguiazarova, obtaining a Master Degree in piano performance.
Furthermore, he has received training from Miguel Ángel Ortega Chavaldas and master classes from Boris Berman, Begoña Uriarte, Nino Kereselidze, Daniel del Pino, Kennedy Moretti, Marta Gulyàs and Denis Lossev, among others.
He has obtained several awards in various of the national and international piano competitions in Spain, highlighting his 1st prizes in Veguellina de Órbigo (2007). ‘Santa Cecilia (2008) ‘San Sebastian International Piano Competition’ (2013), ‘Ciudad de Linares Marisa Montiel’ (2016)” and ‘Ciutat de Carlet’ (2018).
As a chamber musician, he has actively played in different ensembles, both instrumental and vocal, where he has had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of performers and repertoire.
Another important activity in Alberto's career is his role as a composer. In 2020 he finished a Master in Film Scoring at the Katarina Gurska School in Madrid. In April 2021 he published the album “El acorde de los versos”, where he accompanied at piano the recited poetry of Javier Callejo and Federico García Lorca.
Alberto is currently professor of repertoire with piano at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (CSMA). Activity that combines with composition and performance.
