Rodrigo Almeida Costa

Born in Aveiro (Portugal) in 1999. In 2017 he joined the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación ”la Caixa” Horn Chair with professor Radovan Vlatković. He has been granted scholarships by Santander Portugal and Fundación Albéniz. In 2020 he received the Diploma to the most outstanding student of his chair.

He began his studies at the Vale de Cambra Music Academy with professor Marco Maia, and in 2015 he entered the Espinho Professional School of Music with professor Bernardo Silva. He has participated in masterclasses with professors Stefan Dohr, Radek Baborák, Rodolfo Epelde, Will Sanders, Jasper de Wall, Ricardo Matosinhos, Hélder Vales, and José Vicente Castelló, among others. In 2015 he won the second prize of the Terras de La Salette International Competition. He has worked with conductors Pedro Carneiro, Pedro Neves, Ernst Schelle, Vasily Petrenko, András Schiff, and Vicente Alberola, among others.

As a student of the School, he has been part of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra led by Péter Eötvös, Plácido Domingo, Víctor Pablo Pérez, and Andrés Orozco-Estrada, as well as a member of the Mistral Trio, the Harmonie Ensemble, the Wanderer Ensemble and the Cosan Quintet. He is currently part of the O Globo Ensemble and the Fundación Mutua Madrileña Ensemble.
