Santiago Sánchez Barbadora

Hispanic-Uruguayan tenor, born in Montevideo, Uruguay, in 1992. He was awarded first prize at the 2023 Mozart International Competition in Salzburg, Austria. In the 2023-24 season he will make his debut with the Duca in Rigoletto and Lenski in Eugen Onegin at Theater Bonn. He studied singing and piano at the Conservatory of Torrevieja and he later furthered his vocal studies at the Conservatory of Ontinyent. Having completed his studies in Spain, he transferred to the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where he obtained the Bachelor’s in vocal studies and a Master’s in Lied and Oratorio with professors Mario Díaz and Pauliina Tukiainen. In recognition of his outstanding performance, he received the Lilli-Lehmann Medal, awarded by the Mozarteum Foundation. He is also a member of the soloist ensemble of the Theater Bonn since the 2020-21 season.
