Encounter of Santander
Closely connected to the world of chamber music, Victor del Valle collaborates actively with different ensembles and soloists. Doubtless, his projection as an emerging value in the current panorama of classical music in Spain has a lot to do with his concert career with his brother Luis. They form a piano duo who, after being proclaimed winner of the prestigious ARD International Music Competition (Munich, 2005), has been recognized as one of the most outstanding chamber music groups in Europe.
Born in Malaga, he started his career at the Malaga Conservatory of Music under the tuition of Horacio Socías, Paloma Socías and Jose Felipe Diaz. Later he continued his formation at the Queen Sofía College of Music under the direction of Dimitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martinez-Mehner. There he received the distinction of "Outstanding Student" of the Chair of Piano from Her Majesty the former Queen. He completed his education at the International Institute of Chamber Music in Madrid with teachers Márta Gulyás, Ralf Gothóni and Eldar Nebolsin.
He has performed as a member of the Quartet Toldrá Steve, with whom he has recorded a CD playing music by Mozart, Mahler and Montsalvatge. He regularly collaborates with musicians like Cibrán Sierra, Miguel Colom, Fernando Arias, Carole Petitdemange, etc. In their quest to bring classical music to other audiences, he and his brother contributed to the show Two Pianos with Passion, along with singer Pasión Vega, a fusion between music and theatre which more than 40,000 people have already enjoyed in Spain only.
Upcoming and recent activities include performances at the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid, the Teatro Monumental in Madrid, the Teatro de la Maestranza (Seville), the Palau de la Música in Catalonia, the Auditorium and the Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Palacio de Festivales in Cantabria (Santander), Auditorium Dom Musiki (Moscow), Herkulessaal, Prinzregententheater and Gasteig (Munich), Liederhalle (Stuttgart), Congress Centrum (Hannover), Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord (Paris), National Theatre (Panama), Metropolitan Theater of Medellin (Colombia), Sibelius Academy Concert Hall, and the Finnish National Opera (Helsinki).
He and his brother Luis del Valle have recorded a CD with music by Tomás Marco and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Malaga. They have also collaborated with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Galicia in making a CD with unpublished works of Galician composer Jose Arriola. He has recorded for RNE "Radio Clásica", BR (Bavarian Radio) SWR (Süden-Westen Radio) and for the record label SONY Spain. In 2016 a new CD, "Impulse", has been released by IBS Classical and it is having a warm welcome from audience and critics: "Great performance" (The World), "Exceptional" (Scherzo), "Melómano Gold" (Melómano).
Victor del Valle combines his concert activities with different artistic projects as "En plein air" (Mirare) or a CD on Shostakovich by pianist David Kadouch with the Quartet Ardeo (Transart). He is also deeply involved in the teaching of music which leads him to give master classes on piano and chamber music both in Spain and abroad (France, Finland, Colombia, Panama). He also teaches at the Department of piano and piano duo at the Aragon School of Music.
The Junta de Andalucia, through its Andalusian Youth Institute, has awarded Victor and Luis del Valle with the "Malaga Young Award" for promoting Malaga abroad.
