Encounter of Santander
A renowned concert pianist, Sir András Schiff also works as an orchestral conductor. In this concert, which forms part of the programme of the Festival de Música y Danza de Granada, he conducts the Orquesta Freixenet de la Escuela Reina Sofía, in which he will also begin by playing as soloist one of those works in which he is an absolute specialist: one of Bach's original harpsichord concertos.
It will be followed by another 18th century work, one of the best known and most appreciated trumpet concertos of the repertoire, Haydn's, in which Marlon Mora, trumpet player of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía will be the soloist. As a climax, one of Felix Mendelssohn's most popular scores will be played, his Symphony No. 4, known as Italian because it was conceived during the Grand tour that the German maestro made around the transalpine country between 1830 and 1831 and is inspired by the atmosphere, rhythms and colours of Italy.
