Encounter of Santander
The International Music Festival of Las Navas del Marqués (FIMLasNavas) has been held annually since 2010 in this town in the province of Ávila.
Within the series "Matinees at the Castle" (INAEM) - Festival Jóvenes Promesas, held at the Castillo Palacio de Magalia, Nicolás Margarit presents a programme of extreme technical difficulty, which begins with the theme that Beethoven would later use in his third symphony ("La Heroica"), versioned fifteen times, following the classic model of theme with variations and fugue. The programme continues with the Sonata known as the "Black Mass". In contrast to the Sonata No. 7 (White Mass) by the same composer, in this piece Skriabin seeks to create a sinister mood and evoke the sphere of evil. The programme ends with Prokofiev's Sonata No. 6 in A major, which he himself premiered on 8 April 1940, and in which the tension prevailing in the USSR at the time is palpable.
