Ciclo Órgano
Majestic, versatile, and full of nuance, the Gerhard Grenzing organ of the Sony Auditorium becomes the focal point of this concert series dedicated to exploring the full expressive potential of one of the most imposing instruments in the Western tradition. Through performances by leading national and international organists, the series invites audiences to rediscover the organ repertoire in all its richness, in a truly unique sound experience.
Ireneusz Wyrwa is Professor of Organ at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and one of the most distinguished Polish performers of his generation. Trained in Katowice with Julian Gembalski and further refined under the guidance of renowned European masters, he has received prizes in both national and international competitions. His artistic activity spans solo recitals, chamber music, and orchestral collaborations, in addition to studio recordings. A scholar specialising in Nowowiejski and an expert in organ building and restoration, he has founded initiatives such as the Limanowa Summer Concerts and the Sącz Organ Academy, bringing together performance, teaching, and innovation.
Ireneusz Wyrwa invites us on a journey through three centuries of organ music, exploring the evolution of the instrument’s expressive and technical language from the Baroque to the late Romantic period. Listeners will discover the stylistic richness of composers such as Georg Muffat and Johann Ludwig Krebs, the structural depth of Rheinberger, and the emotional intensity of Max Reger, culminating in the monumental Fantasia and Fugue in G minor by Johann Sebastian Bach.
This programme also pays tribute to the Auditorio Sony organ, built by Gerhard Grenzing, whose tonal and mechanical qualities are highlighted by the performer—an expert in organ design—through a repertoire carefully chosen to showcase its full sonic possibilities.
Concert organised with the support of the Polish Cultural Institute in Madrid.
**NOTICE: As the organ is located over the stage, the 1st amphitheatre is the recommended seating area for the best view.**
