Alba Abalo Fontán

Alba Abalo Fontán

Born in Pontevedra, Spain, in 2003. Since 2025, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music's Fundación ”la Caixa” French Horn Chair with professor Radovan Vlatković. She has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

She has received training from renowned horn players such as Matías Piñeira, David Griffin, and Anna Ferriol, and has worked under the baton of conductors including Vasily Petrenko and Elim Chan.

Awarded the Final Prize for Professional Horn Studies, she has performed with orchestras such as the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, the Galicia Symphony Orchestra, the Vigo Classical Orchestra, and the Gaos Orchestra. She has been a member of the Young Orchestra of the Canary Islands, the Youth Orchestra of the Galicia Symphony, the Castilla y León Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Young Orchestra of Alto Miho, and has completed internships with the Municipal Bands of Santiago and A Coruña. Since 2025, she is a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra.

In 2024, she won second prize at the Citcastelló International Horn Congress and first prize in the Cámara competition with the Bruar Quartet. She is also part of the Instrumentalist Roster of the Extremadura Orchestra.

As a student of the School, she is part of the Casa de la Moneda Scarlatti Quintet.
