Alessandra Doninelli

Born in Bellinzona (Switzerland) in 1995. Since 2019, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair with professor Ivan Monighetti. She has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

She started playing cello at the age of five. She studied with Taisuke Yamashita in Lugano and with Ivan Monighetti and Sol Gabetta at the Hochschule für Musik Basel. She has also attended masterclasses by Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Asier Polo and Oliver Wille (string groups).

She has performed in renowned venues, including Berliner Philharmonie, Tokyo’s Opera (Japan), Tonhalle (Zurich), Switzerland’s Federal Palace in Bern and Barcelona’s Palau de la Música.

As soloist, she has performed with the United Soloists Orchestra, the Dei Castelli Camerata, the Eurasian Soloists Orchestra, and the Orchestre der Musikhochschule Basel. In addition, she has played chamber music with Vilde Frang, Yura Lee, and Calogero Palermo.

As a student of the School, she has been a member of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Pablo González, and that of the Google Da Vinci Ensemble. She is currently part of the BBDO Tiempo Quartet, the Stadler Quintet, and the KPMG Schubert Quintet, with whom she was awarded the Mention to the most outstanding chamber group in the category of groups with piano in 2021.
