Encounter of Santander
Florian Schötz was born in Munich. He studied in Berlin, Munich, Nuremberg, Vienna, and Madrid. His teachers include Daniel Gaede, Günter Pichler, and Gerhard Schulz.
As the first violinist of the Goldmund Quartet, he has received numerous awards at national and international competitions, including prizes at the ARD International Music Competition and the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. In 2018, the quartet won First Prize and a Special Prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition.
With his string quartet, he performs at international festivals such as the Festival Aix-en-Provence, the Festival de Música y Danza Granada, the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.
He has given concerts in Denmark, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, the USA, and China.
Florian Schötz already taught as an assistant to Daniel Gaede at the Nuremberg University of Music while still a student. Since 2019, he has been teaching at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig, and since 2021 at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
He plays the "Conte Cozio di Salabue" Stradivari from 1727, on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
