Ignacio García Núñez

Born in Pamplona (Spain), in 1999. Since 2025, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music, in the Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair, under Professor Jens Peter Maintz. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

After completing his master’s degree at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Giovanni Gnocchi, he pursued a double master’s in Baroque cello and historical performance with Marco Testori and Reinhard Goebel, as well as a postgraduate program with Enrico Bronzi and Clemens Hagen. As a chamber musician, he has received training from masters such as Rainer Schmidt, Phill Setzer, and Antonio Meneses, whose mentorship was especially significant.

He has collaborated with the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble conducted by Thomas Hengelbrock and with the El Liceo Orchestra of Havana alongside Sarah Willis. He has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Milan Symphony Orchestra and the Pablo Sarasate Orchestra.
