Jozefien Dumortier

Jozefien Dumortier

Born in Oudenaarde, Belgium, in 1997. She is a violinist and violist who studied with Maria Milstein and Sven Arne Tepl at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, and with Marc Danel, Lei Wang and Marc Tooten in Belgium. This academic year she studies viola at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel with Miguel da Silva. In 2015 she won the Rotary Culture Prize (Kortrijk, Belgium). She has attended violin and viola masterclasses by Nobuko Imai, Garfield Jackson, Atar Arad, Philippe Graffin, Henry Raudales, Sigiswald Kuijken, and Alexei Moshkov, among others. Additionally, she has been a member of EUYO, Young Belgian Strings, Youth Orchestra Flanders, and in 2021-2022, she was principal violist of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.
