Martina Bonaldo

Martina Bonaldo

Born in Mantua, Italy, in 2022. Since 2022, she studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación BBVA Viola Chair with professor Diemut Poppen. She has been granted scholarships by Reale Foundation and Fundación Albéniz. She plays a Peter Greiner 2015 viola and with a Baroque Sielam viola bow loaned as an instrument scholarship by Sara Ferrández and Fundación Albéniz respectively. Her Majesty Queen Sofía handed her the Diploma to the most outstanding student of her chair in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Since 2009, she studied at the Lucio Campiani Conservatory in her hometown with professor Grazia Colombini. At the same time, she attended regular courses with Davide Zaltron. She was awarded her first degree in 2021 with Honours. She has attended masterclasses by artists such as Davide Zaltron, Daniel Formentelli, Tobias Lea, Nils Mönkemeyer and Lawrence Power. She is currently finishing her studies at the Lucio Campiani Conservatory, whilst taking the specialisation Viola course with Maestro Simone Briatore at the Pinerolo Music Academy.

In 2021 she was accepted to the W.Stauffer Centre For Strings Academy in Cremona, where she studies the Stauffer Artist Diploma in Viola with Maestro Bruno Giuranna. She is very active in chamber music and orchestra festivals.

As a student of the School, she has been a member of the Freixenet Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Juanjo Mena and Péter Csaba; of the Baroque Ensemble of the School, conducted by Paul Goodwin, and of the Sinfonietta, conducted by Zsolt Nagy. She is currently a member of the Fundación Mutua Madrileña Ensemble.
