Sanghyeok Park

Born in Gangneung (South Korea), in 2004. Since 2024, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music, in the Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair, under Professor Ivan Monighetti. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

After graduating as top student from the Korea National University of Arts, he continued his training with Ivan Monighetti. A scholarship recipient of Hyundai Motors and the Musikakademie Liechtenstein, he has taken masterclasses with renowned cellists such as Frans Helmerson, Ivan Monighetti, and Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.

He made his debut at the age of 13 at the Kumho Art Center and as a soloist with the Gangneung Philharmonic Orchestra. He has won numerous competitions in Korea, including the Grand Prize at the Seongjeong Competition, and international awards such as third prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition and second prize at the Penderecki Competition. He has performed in venues such as the Mariinsky Theatre and the Liszt Academy in Hungary, and has collaborated with orchestras including the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Orchestra in Beijing, under the baton of Zubin Mehta.
